ich hab ja nicht genug zu tun und chrysopolis ist ja auch schon bei teil 6 angekommen...
deshalb habe ich eben mal bei mariannes opalwolle ein bischen weihnachtsgeld investiert und mir die passende wolle für abotanicity gegönnt (und noch ein oder zwei andere köstlichkeiten...)

kaum kam die wolle an, habe ich mit einer maschenprobe angefangen. die nicht gepasst hat. aleo eine zweite gemacht. mit dünneren nadeln. die nicht gepasst hat. ich habe nur 36 maschen mit 3mm-nadeln per 10 cm erreicht und die designerin verlangt 52 maschen mit 3,25mm-nadeln. und ich dachte immer, ich würde fest stricken.
da ich mich weigere pullover mit kleineren als 3mm-nadeln zu stricken, habe ich dann eben umgerechnet. sollte bei einem raglan-von-oben ja auch nicht so das problem sein...
bis jetzt siehts ganz gut aus.



as i don't have enough to do i started a new project, abotanicity from knitty.com.
i got the wool from mariannes opalwolle with some christmas-money and started immediately as i received the wool but didn't get gauge at all. i got just 36 st / 4 in with smaller needles than the designer used and i always thought i am a tight knitter...
but as this is a top-down-raglan it is not to hard to recalculate and i looks quite ok until now.

gestrickt habe ich auch. ein paar socken wurde fertig und an anderen unfertigen objekten habe ich weitergestrickt.

i did some knitting during the trip. one pair of socks i finished and some other ufos got some work done



das ist junghans sockenwolle 6-fach. nachdem ich schon beim ersten socken am fuß (toe-up) einen knoten hatte und es nicht klar war, wieviel vom raport verloren ging, habe ich gar nicht erst versucht, zwei gleich aussehende socken zu produzieren...
ansonsten ist die wolle wunderbar warm und nach dem waschen auch schön weich.

they are made from 6-ply junghans sockwool. i encountered a knot when i was in the middle of the first foot (toe-up), so i didn't even try to make two identical socks. other than that the wool is very nice and soft

zwei weihnachtsgeschenke wurden noch fertig. da sie inzwischen beim empfänger angekommen sind, kann ich sie auch hier zeigen.

two more christmas gifts were finished. because they are now at their destination, i can show them here.

mystic waters stole ist fertig gestrickt, nur noch fäden vernähen und spannen. das wird aber mit sicherheit erst nach den feiertagen stattfinden...
das ding ist jetzt schon ca. 170 cm breit und 92 cm lang. da muß ich aufpassen, daß ich beim spannen nicht übertreibe....

mystic waters stole is finished. at least the knitting part. i still have to weave in the ends and to block the monster. it measures before blocking approx. 66 in top width and 36 in length. i will have to be careful that it will not be to large after blocking...

tudora, weitestgehend nach der anleitung gestrickt. ich habe nur beim erstellen der schräge mit verkürzten reihen gearbeitet, anstelle gleich die entsprechenden maschen abzuketten. dadurch wurde der obere rand gleichmäßiger. und ich habe zwei knöpfe verwendet, weil ich keinen einzelnen großen hatte.

tudora, more or less according to the pattern. i only used short rows to achieve the upper egde instead of casting off. that resulted in a smooth cast off-edge. and i used two buttons, because i didn't have a single large one.

das garn ist von handpainted yarns, 100% wolle, nadeln 3,5 mm. ich musste 12 maschen mehr anschlagen und zwei extra reihen zwischen den verzopfungen stricken, da mein garn dünner als das original ist.



this will be tudora by cheryl marling. i needed a break from the mystic waters stole.
i started last evening and it ist nearly finished.
the yarn is some mystery colour from handpaintedyarns out of my stash. as it is thinner than the requested one, i needed to cast on 12 additional stitches and knit two additional rows between each cable crossing.

gestern habe ich dann "mal eben" den prototyp meiner diesjährigen weihnachtsgeschenke genäht. beim nächstgelegenen stoffladen habe ich für kleines geld zwei päckchen mit deko-stoffresten erstanden und dann einfach mal drauflos genäht.
entstanden ist dieser stoffbeutel - die luxusalternative zu den stofftaschen, mit denen man sonst so einkaufen geht, wenn man plastiktüten vermeiden will.
weil diese tasche natürlich alles andere als perfekt ist und deshalb nicht zum verschenken taugt, ist das jetzt meine neue schultasche. schnellhefter passen hervorragend rein und es ist noch platz für ein wörterbuch, eine wasserflasche, ein thermos-kaffee-becher und ein mäppchen .

yesterday i produced this totebag. it is the prototype of the christmast gifts i will make to various people this year. and because the mistakes make it unworthy for gifting, this particular bag is my new school bag. it is large enough for binders, a dictionnary, a waterbottle a thermos-coffee-cup and a pencil case

genau zwei tage habe ich dafür gebraucht:



ein baby surprise jacket nach einer anleitung von elizabeth zimmermann.
die fäden müssen noch vernäht werden und es muß noch die schulternaht geschlossen werden.
allerdings fehlt dann trotzdem noch die hälfte, die empfängerin erwartet nämlich zwillinge...


it took les than two days to finnish this baby surprise jacket. alas, i will need to knit another one, as the recepient is expecting twins...

ein neues spielzeug habe ich auch. beim lidl gabs das diese woche im angebot und ich konnte nicht widerstehen. jetzt ist das extra-geld von meiner mutter auch wieder weg...

i have also a new toy. the local discounter had a special offer this week and i couldn't resist. now the extra-money my mother sent me is gone...

sowohl die mystic waters stole als auch der secret of chrysopolis shawl machen fortschritte, auch wenn ich mich deutlich mehr mit den mystischen wassern beschäftige.

bei mystic waters bin ich auf dem laufenden, bei secret of chrysopolis mitten im 4. hinweis.
beide gefallen mir sehr gut und werden auf jeden fall fertig...

mystic waters ist aus jamieson & smith 2-ply lace weight, in einem hellen melierten blau.
secret of chrysopolis ist aus einem finnischen garn - teetee kamena - in lila. die farbe ist auf den fotos gut getroffen.

mystic waters ist, soweit ich das beurteilen kann, fehlerfrei. bei soc hat sich ganz am anfang ein fehler eingeschlichen, der mir erst viel zu spät auffiel, als daß ich nochmal geribbelt hätte... sieht außer mir sowieso keiner ;-)

the mystic waters stole as well as the secret of chrysopolis shawl are showing some progress, even if i am concentrating my efforts on the mystical waters right now.

i am on time with the clues of mystic waters, but 3 clues behind at secret of chrysopolis. but as i like both very much, i am not worried about the ufo-potential.

mystic waters is made of jamieson % smith 2-ply lace weight in a nicely heathered light blue. secret of chrysopolis is made of a local finish yarn - teetee kamena - in violet. the colour is fairly authentic on the picture.

as far as i can tell, there are no mistakes in the mystic waters stole. but i know of definitely one mistake in the soc. it is near the beginning and i noticed it to late. i didn't want to frog that much in that area. anyway, nobody besides me will notice it ;-)
